Do's and Don'ts To become Expert Dedicated Designer in 2014

As a designer, this is one of the most happening parts of a new year. Here we are, trying to find out what would be game changer  for design trends in 2013. It absolutely makes sense. Web designers have to really be up on all the new trends to be relevant and abreast of what’s next after that trend.

Do's

01. Flat web designs

It seems it is going to be yet another year of Flat Design and making stuff simpler and cleaner. This trend focuses on typography and the use of color, avoiding at the same time the unnecessary frills, textures and styles, effects like shadows, glows and so on.

02 -fancy Scrolling Effects

Scrolling effects rules in web design. Whether it is something simple like header that changes its size after scroll or more fancy like horizontal scrolling content or parallax – scrolling is worth to consider while planning any website design. Probably the most impressive is the so-called Parallax Scrolling.

 03-ANIMATIONS

With still growing capabilities of HTML5, CSS3 and the addition of pre-processors (SASS, LESS) and jQuery of course, we surely will see enhance of more and more astonishing animations. Used smart they can be this “wow” factor, that will make your website stand out. Additionally animations are easy to use (lots of open source “copy-paste” plugins out there) and increasingly mobile friendly

Don'ts

1.Gorgeous One page is better than bundles of pages.

Websites that are divided into endless pages and that feature a ridiculously massive amount of content are becoming a thing of the past. When you design your website, think about the function of each page and whether it’s really necessary.

2.Do not use unreal stock photos.

Be bold and use images of people who are not perfect, choose photos that are more real, and your visitors will reward you with their trust.

3.Mixing fonts – not a smart move

4.Overly Clever Icon Menus

Icons are fun and they make web design more challenging, but they definitely should not make the user experience challenging as well. When you use a a pigeon dove  icon for a “Get in Touch” button, you are making your visitors think too much instead of just clicking. Use icons to compliment words, not represent them.

Fortunately at this time we can already look at what we will be seeing in the beginning of the next year. Like fashion and technology, the styles of websites and blogs you see would also evolve and change. Below you will find a list of expected web design trends in approaching 2014

Single Page Website Templates: Effective or not.. .?

What is a Single Page Website?

A single page website has only one HTML page. When we  navigate links, the user jumps to that particular  section.  There are many languages like Javascript, CSS, Jquery, JSON used.

I saw many single page websites with great themes & features. Now a days single page website appreciated for blog & other landing pages.  But if your website has many pages with different topics, then I think it best to skip this method and go the traditional way.

One Page Websites Can Confuse Users

To keep visitors on a website, you need to make website content and navigation easy.  You can’t expect visitors to think through cute design to get to where they want to go or to locate information they need Real websites include multiple pages designed around a users’ needs and the website owner’s goals. Hire dedicated developers to design your website user friendly and use hierarchical structure to redirect user on particular pages.

When Single Page Website?

For websites that are tightly focused on a single topic and don’t have a ton of content, a Single Page website can work nicely. the Single Page approach seemed appropriate in that case.

Single Page Website

A Single Page Website: Beneficial for landing page for a PPC/Adwords ad

Since these landing pages should have a single-topic focus and be optimized for just that one topic, the subject of your ad.

Landing Pages

One Page Site Can down Your SEO

Single page website technology moving fast & give cool new look  to display website pages.
In traditional website, there are many pages having their respective title, meta tag & descriptions but in single page website only one title tag, meta tag & descriptions. This is negative aspect according to SEO. To get top 10 ranking in Google it's necessary to optimize your site properly and use hierarchical url structure.

SEO Competition for Ranking

SEO is a page-by-page competition for ranking and when developing your website architecture, it’s best practice to limit each page to a single topic.

SEO Competition

With Single Page Websites You Have Only a Single Title Tag and Meta Description Tag

These two tags are probably the single most important on-page SEO elements, conveying to the search engines the EXACT topic of each page. They are also displayed on a SERP (Search Engine Results Page) when one of your pages is listed:

One Page Websites Can Derail SEO Efforts

If SEO is important to the heath of your website and your company, I highly suggest you leave single page websites. They don’t need SEO to survive, but you do, so stick with technology that is known to work.

SEO Factors

A Single Page Website:  One Page in Google Index
Search engines will index all the pages of your website, providing multiple opportunities for your site to come up in searches. When your site consists of only one page, a single page is exactly what you’ll have indexed.

Single Page Website: Yes or No?

Personally, I really love many of the Single Page websites I’ve seen. It’s a visually appealing effect and if your site fits the appropriate Single Page profile, it’s a fine way to go.

But if your site has numerous topics and sub-topics, then I think it best to skip this approach and go the convention route of individual pages.

Loading time of single page website is less than traditional website. So loading time point of view it is better than other.

Top 10 Online Selling Tips

E-commerce website development is a appealing solution among online businesses as in recent days, a number of customers prefer online shopping. No doubt, there are extensive number of e-commerce solution providers and companies, which offer such solution at competitive rate. Selling is an art. Some Online selling tips are given below:

1- Market your online outlet.

It's no use having a great online sales channel if no one knows about it. Internet marketing, such as SEO, PPC advertising and an e-newsletter, will get potential customers to your site.

 2- Focus on product descriptions.

Write your own product descriptions as this will help you to stand out from your competitors.

Expert says product pages aren’t done well by a lot of online retailers as they fail to highlight the benefits of their products. Information should sit alongside the product description, along with frequently asked questions.

In addition to high quality images, Experts suggests having a look for relevant product reviews on YouTube.

3- Integrate social media.

Include links to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn on your website. By making yourself available on social media, you’ll be able to get to know your customers and answer any questions they may have.

This could include live chat, which allows users to communicate with someone face to face.

As a start-up, you have the ability to get really get personal with your customers, so pay attention to your response times with mediums such as email.

4- Single-page checkout.

5- Invest in customer service.

Maintain outstanding customer service. It’s not enough to just respond to every user’s query on your website – it must be replicated in the real world.

“When you do call them up, the customer service staff are empowered to look after you as a customer – they don’t have to liaise with any supervisors or managers.”

You should gain an innate understanding of what your customers want and how to connect to them.

6- Facebook Is the Future of Selling Online.

But small businesses are also among Facebook's priorities, with approximately 7 million small companies using the network actively each month and about 3 million posting weekly or more. When it comes to advertising

7- Pictures are important.

Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.  Many will not bid on items they cannot see first.  A good picture often holds up a less than perfect ad.  People can see what they are interested in and that you actually have it.  Items with images get more hits because there are many Ebayers who will search on those ads with galleries only.

The exposure is very valuable for your sale and profit potential.  So, do get a camera and learn to use it -- simple is better and a cheap digital camera is just fine.

8- Be seasonal.

If there's a holiday coming, recognize it and do sales and/or promotions related to it.  I tried a Red and Green sale on Thanksgiving weekend – in which my subscribers took 50% off any red or green items in my store.

My newsletter subscribers have fun with it and they know they are special because I do it for them.  If you are able to feature your sale with a hot seller holiday item or two, do so to draw holiday browsers.  During the holiday season put a special greeting in your invoices and auctions (use a keyword relative to your store for extra keyword exposure in searches).

Know the power of a newsletter and write one to your subscibers that announces sales and /or any specials you are running. To increase sell from your  E-commerce website hire dedicated designer at this Christmas.
